Bit the lemon and ordered Starlink. They more than halved the monthly fee in Italy, and our local provider is dropping the ball too much. Only 15 EUR more expensive than our current plan, and a friend of mine is getting ~250 Mb/s downstream consistently in Europe at the moment. Let's see how it goes...
It's neat that they give you 30 days of trial period, so if you're not satisfied with the performance you can send everything back for a full refund.
@raucao
Finding it hard to understand your promoting this ultimate internet centralisation without critique.
@happyborg Not sure what you mean. How many fiber providers are there in any given country in Europe?
@happyborg I don't mean local companies re-selling the big 3's uplinks. I mean genuine uplink providers.
@raucao
You've joined the Musk cult and are encouraging others.
Can't you see where this is going?
Do you want your connection to others to have Musk as the gatekeeper?
Are you ok with finding Musk's funding hegemony?
I refused to give Murdoch my money for decades, I gave up things dear to me, but for the slightest convenience humans do seen willing to give up everything. This is why we're fucked man.
@happyborg Ah, because Vodafone and Telefonica are so much better. Your personal gripes with any human are not my concern.
@raucao
Yeh, let's see how this plays out.
You are so naive.
Have you so little awareness of Musk and billionaires in general?
@happyborg Have you so little awareness about global corporations and especially telcos? Is this supposed to constitute some kind of argument? Please go and be angry at someone else. You don't have to follow my posts if you have no capacity to understand different people's situations at all.
Instead of taking this so personally, perhaps try to justify your own choices.
Supporting fascism for example.
@happyborg Also, "the slightest convenience" is not at all describing our current Internet situation. At least inquire about it before making emotional judgements based on your hatred for one man.
@raucao
I don't hate Musk.
It's interesting how people assume that critique is personal or emotional.
What you see is often a reflection of yourself.
I've followed you and your work for years. We've interacted many times. My emotion is about that, what I see as self betrayal not Musk.
You probably don't realise who I am, so are speaking without understanding. Reacting emotionally to criticism.
@happyborg What criticism? You have not articulated anything at all so far. Just ad hominems and what looks like your own disgust.
@happyborg But please do defend state-supported oligopoly corporations that control almost everyone's Internet right now. You do realize that in your country your providers actually do censor your Internet, right?
@raucao yes, so I work to change that rather than helping further concentrating that control in individuals.
@raucao yes, disgust can be rooted in intellect and understanding.
