$100 to the first person that modified #Mastodon to let me block certain hashtags.
Fuckit, $1000.
@gme You can already do that using the timeline filter expressions, no?
@raucao I have multiple hashtags I want to block.
@gme Yes, you can use a regex there.
@raucao No regex.
Twitter let's me block a list.
Mastodon should let me block a list.
RegExes are for nerds.
@gme It's much more flexible than a simple list. And it's simple: enter "#onetag|#anothertag|#onemore" (without the quotes) and you're done.
@crazypedia @gme "Seperate filter words with a | character". And you're literally looking at a site that lets you ask anyone on your instance, including a hopefully friendly admin.
You didn't ask to have a perfectly valid UX issue improved, you said you'd give someone 1000 bucks if you could block lists of words. My point is you can, and it's extremely simple, and someone responded within a minute to your question.
@raucao @crazypedia I also didn't specify the currency, so if you really want to debate semantics....
@gme @crazypedia Don't want to debate anything. I wanted to help you filter your timeline, and all I got was "that's useless nerd shit".
@raucao @crazypedia I'm genuinely sorry if I came across that way. That wasn't my intent.
Seriously, and sincerely: I apologize.
@gme @crazypedia Gladly accepted, but no need really. I understand that a field asking for a "regular expression" is not very user-friendly, and I probably misunderstood the intention of the original toot. If you really want better filtering features, this other nerd thing called GitHub issues is where I just found the right conversation for you to join: https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/issues/3848
@raucao @crazypedia I was a nerd back in high school. That was 30 years ago.
Today, I'm a geek, and that's a badge I wear with honor. It also pays pretty damn good, too.
