Julian Lage - Live in Los Angeles

This companion to 2017's Arclight, released on RSDBF24 on pink vinyl, is a great showcase for Lage and his band (Scott Colley on bass, Kenny Wollesen on drums), showing off their chops and great trio playing.

In celebration of this fun development, we've decided to extend the 80s kids pre-sale (which was scheduled to end Friday, March 14th) through the weekend.

So hop on over to our store and pre-order your copy of:
• the limited-edition vinyl LP
• the limited-edition cassette + walkman combo (SUCH a popular pre-sale item!)
• the CD
• one or more of the really frickin' cute tees we have available.

Call me a big huge nerd, but I love how-it’s-made videos. 🤓 And I especially love videos showing vinyl records being pressed. And I especially, especially love a video showing our new 80s kids album being pressed! Eeeeeee!

We just got this video from Waxwork Records, where earlier this week that Pac-Man splatter design that we dreamed up came to life. Can you even believe how cool this is??

Sahib Shihab - Sahib's Jazz Party & After Hours

This RSD BF 2024 release seems to combine Shihab's Conversations (recorded live in 1963 at Montmartre Jazzhuis in Copenhagen) and an additional "After Hours" EP from the same location.

He's joined by Ole Molin (guitar), Niels Henning Orsted Pederson (bass), Allan Botchinsky (flugelhorn), and Alex Riel (drums).

Overall a nice release.

ELVIS COSTELLO
My Aim Is True
1977 Canada pressing

A great debut album of all time, & the first of 3 impossibly stellar recordings.

Been on an Elvis kick the last few days, but my relationship with his music has always been with JUST those first 3.

I’ve always appreciated a handful of post-‘78 singles (Everyday I Write The Book, Clubland), but I’ve never had much use for anything past Armed Forces on whole.

THIS one is timeless, front to back.

The Minus 5 - Down with Wilco

Another fun album of melodic, Beatles-influenced pop from McCaughey and a bunch of others orbiting late-period REM (including Peter Buck and Ken Stringfellow of the Posies), plus backing from folks from Wilco.

All that said, it doesn’t sound like a Wilco or REM album…it’s definitely McCaughey’s…

Walter Davis Jr. - Davis Cup

1958 session by Davis, and his only as a leader for Blue Note…which is hard to believe given the quality of the release. Davis didn’t lead another session until…1979.

He’s joined by Jackie McLean (Alto), Donald Byrd (trumpet), Art Taylor (drums), and Sam Jones (bass).
