Last night I started reading about jojk/joik (not sure how to spell it) and now I'm obsessed. It's the traditional form of song of the Sami people and it is unbelievable magical. When they sing a joik about smth/smbd, they're actually evoking the object/person and not just singing about it/them*. Younger generations of Sami are intertwining their traditional music with contemporary styles and the blend that results is EVERYTHING:

As my #introduction I'm going to urge you to read the book in my avatar (Spanish edition): Kallocain, by Karin Boye. Boye was a Swedish, lesbian poet who wrote a dystopian science fiction novel a decade before Orwell did.
