So, where should I put a fedi account for a very friendly, open-source-supporting company of mine? It seems like a lot of people around here don't want any companies on fedi to begin with, but do you really want us to continue only having a birdsite account for quick updates and such?
Also, we wouldn't just cross-post from birdsite, of course.
@raucao Well, I'm not sure about kosmos.social, but there are instances open to host accounts for private companies. Ideally, I encourage the idea that private companies should run their own instances. See my employee account on @judeswae for example. But if you can't do it, find an instance that would accept it and you're good to go. The rest of the fediverse can decide if they want to federate with you or not.
@raucao hey, if I don't want to see it, I can mute or block it. I wouldn't know why a company wouldn't be welcome on the fediverse, as long as it behaved itself like a proper fedizen.
@raucao and there is always the option of running your own instance. Maybe there is a specific instance that matches your market?
@raucao anything against running their own Pleroma/Mastodon instance? It would verify to the people it is the official account in an instant, because they own that domain. And optionally they can give the individual support workers etc their own account.
@RyuKurisu Mostly just that we don't post much tbh. But it does seem like the cleanest solution.
@raucao even I'm considering running my own instance. Not that I need to, but federation only works if we truly federate 😎👍
